Visa Options
Cambodia offers straightforward visa options for most nationalities. Here's what you need to know.
Tourist Visa (T)
- Cost: $30 USD
- Duration: 30 days
- Extendable: Once, for an additional 30 days (~$45)
- Available: On arrival at airports and major border crossings, or online via e-visa
e-Visa (Recommended)
Apply online at evisa.gov.kh before you travel.
- Cost: $30 + $6 processing fee = $36 total
- Processing: 3 business days
- Valid entry points: Phnom Penh airport, Siem Reap airport, plus select land borders (Bavet, Poipet, Cham Yeam)
Tip: Apply at least a week before travel. The e-visa saves you time in the arrival queue.
Visa on Arrival (VOA)
Available at international airports and most major land borders.
- Cost: $30 USD (cash only, bring exact change)
- Requirements: Passport with 6+ months validity, one passport photo
- Not available: At smaller land border crossings
Warning: Some border officials at land crossings may ask for unofficial "processing fees." The official price is $30 USD. Politely insist on the correct amount.
e-Arrival Card (Mandatory)
Since January 2025, all visitors arriving by air must submit an e-Arrival form online within 7 days before arrival. This replaces the paper immigration card.
- Website: arrival.gov.kh
- Cost: Free
- Includes: Immigration form, health declaration, customs declaration
Business Visa (E-class)
- Cost: $35 USD
- Duration: 30 days initially, extendable up to 12 months (~$285/year)
- Note: Popular with digital nomads for long-term stays
Visa Extensions
| Type | Duration | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Tourist extension | +30 days | ~$45 |
| Business (EB) 6 months | 6 months | ~$160 |
| Business (EB) 12 months | 12 months | ~$285 |
Extensions are processed through travel agents or directly at the Immigration Department in Phnom Penh. Most travelers use a local agent — it costs slightly more but saves significant hassle.
Overstay Penalties
Cambodia takes visa overstays seriously:
- $10/day fine for overstays up to 30 days
- Overstays beyond 30 days may require leaving the country
- Detention and deportation possible for extended overstays
